Thank you to everyone that attended the TSR Amateur Summer Show this weekend, although the weather was against us, entries came forward to support this new initiative for amateurs which made for a wonderful atmosphere over the two days.
We saw bumper pre entry numbers with even more joining us through entries taken over the weekend across all classes. We were delighted to receive such positive comments from stewards, judges and competitors alike.
Over two days we had 56 HOYS qualifying spots on offer with many first time winners booking their ticket to the NEC in October.
Along with all HOYS qualifiers this season, any qualifications will be thoroughly vetted, along with the addition of eligibility relating to Amateur definition. No qualification is confirmed until a competitor receives written confirmation from Grandstand Media Ltd.
We are aware of social media activity that is suggesting that some competitors did not fall under the TSR amateur definition. We would encourage anyone who wishes to bring this to our attention to do so correctly, in writing, directly to ourselves and we will endeavour to carry out a full and thorough investigation. The society is not able to act on hearsay comments from Facebook or other social media platforms alone. We also remind people to be mindful that there are rules regarding social media conduct and any breach of these will be dealt with in accordance with the society policy.
All those who compete under this Amateur definition must ensure they maintain their amateur status for any qualification gained, up to and including Horse of the Year Show. Any breach of the rules relating to TSR will be dealt with accordingly.
TSR takes very seriously the spirit of these amateur and home produced conditions and any member or participant found to be contravening them may be subject to exclusion from this Show and Horse of the Year Show. We are disappointed some competitors chose to attend the Show and didn’t enter in the spirit intended, although they may meet the criteria, morally competitors are encouraged to make the honourable decision when participating.
TSR will continue to provide a platform for amateur competitors and work alongside Horse of the Year Show to continue and develop opportunities for those that truly represent amateurs within our sport.
We wish all our members and showing competitors an enjoyable and successful 2023 season.
