Sibling Rivalry in the Supreme and a Junior Rider beats the Adults in the Open M&M!

TSR member Eve Reading from Corby beat off 21 riders to win the Novice M&M WHP and go M&M WHP Champ with her pony Parktown Copper King. Eve then had to take on not only teh HOYS M&M Champion but her her sister Izzy in the Supreme. Izzy had won the WHP Championship on her pony Draconis Fire Bolt.  Eve rode like a demon and was crowned Supreme of show. Eve’s Mum Kirsty said ” We are thrilled, we have only owned Copper King for two weeks and the pair have really clicked”

Rachel Cowan from Milton Keynes received an early birthday present taking the Reserve Supreme with her horse So Sweet who won a strong Ridden Horse Championship. Rachel has only owned the mare for 10 days and is returning to showing after a 10 year break. To add to the rosettes she was talent spotted for the TSR/HOYS Training Pathway and will have the chance to be selected to ride in the TSR Master Class at HOYS in October.

The In Hand classes were well supported with many handlers qualifying for the new TSR In Hand Regional Finals. Victoria Leggett from Northants with her Highland Edindurno Glendronach won the Pure Bred class & was 3rd in the In Hand Pony. Emma Wilde won the Veteran class with Johndoe. Seven year old Amelia Lockhart had her debut in M&M In Hand Small Breeds after the lorry broke down on the way and she missed her ridden class. Determined to have a go she entered and went on to be overall In Hand Champion with her pony Newoak Designer Edition. Diane Cruickshank won the coloured class with Zeus.

Large entries were forward for the HOYS M&M Ridden classes Glebedale Ding Dong ridden by Rebecca Penny stole the show with the Welsh C’s amazing paces to be Champion. Beating Fly the Last Flute and Sandra Burton winners of the New Forest & Connemara class, Sarah Parker riding Kilmannan Kilty winner of the Highland, Fell & Dale section, Pumphill Banter & Isobel Lines who won the Dartmoor, Exmoor & Shetland class, India Latter & Powys Sprite Section A winners, Katie Novell & Section D winner Tresiaur Quickstep.

Reserve Champion went to the Section B winner Pendock Silver Penny ridden by 9 year old Marnie Dunne from Staffordshire. Marnie and her pony Penny proved that Junior riders can beat the adults! It was the pairs first ever HOYS M&M Open class having only contested First Ridden classes in 2014. Marnie keeps her pony at home and had lightly shown it in 2014 qualifying it for HOYS in the M&M first ridden class and was 6th in the M&M First Ridden at the RIHS. Her mum Vicki said Marnie was riding a first ridden for someone else at the TSR Spring Show so we thought we might as well take Penny and enter the class to get them some experience, we are over the moon!”

The new Intro Rider classes for New, Nervous or Novice Riders proved popular. Northamptonshire riders Nikki Reader on Collier won the Ridden Cob and Marilyn Bane won the Ridden Hunter with The Grey Reble. Olivia Minihane from Birmingham won the Retrained Racehorse class on Ice Alice, it was great to see so many forward and enjoying their new careers.
